Healing hearts together: Horizon Grief Resource Center provides support when you need it most

Grief is more than a feeling, it is a journey - and one you should not have to take alone. At Horizon Home Care & Hospice, we offer free grief support to families in need. We're reaching out to ask for your help in sustaining this essential service.

We understand the profound impact of grief, and we are committed to providing free grief support to families who have lost a loved one. We are calling upon your generosity to help us continue this vital work that brings solace, comfort, and hope to those who need it most.

“The Grief Center was created to serve the community in a way it hadn’t been served before,” states Mary Haynor, Horizon CEO. “End of life care is not just about the patient, it’s about the family.”

Grief is complex, affecting every aspect of life. Our team of dedicated counselors and volunteers provides a safe space for healing through group therapy, one-on-one counseling, workshops, and community events.

Christine and Richard were married thirty-nine years. “When Dick died, it was devastating. It’s like losing a part of yourself. It’s hard to explain. People come up to you and tell you they know how you feel, and unless they’ve really been through it, they don’t have any idea what you’re feeling. Going to the [Horizon Grief Resource Center support] group taught us how to share our grief. And you find out you’re not alone in this.”

Carol lost her husband Eddie eleven years ago. “When Eddie died, I couldn’t even cry. I was just sort of numb. Although I have a wonderful family and friends, they don’t understand unless they’ve been through this.” Carol joined a grief support group at Horizon eleven years ago and the group has made such a lasting impact on her life that she still gets together with them monthly. “Without it, we would have been lost. I wouldn’t have made it.”

“Here at the Grief Center, we see people at some of the toughest moments of their life.” Kayla Waldschmidt, Lead Counselor states. “We see people walk out confidently knowing they can start life anew as they move forward.”

No one should navigate grief alone. Your donation can make a meaningful impact on those facing loss. Join us in providing solace, comfort and hope. Donate today to help us continue offering free grief support to those in need.
