Horizon Celebrates 25 years!
July 1, 2015 marks the twenty-five-year anniversary of Horizon Home Care & Hospice.
An Inside Perspective
"Horizon is a strong force in the health care system because of two things: its care and its dedication to innovation." - Kris Noyes, Director of Supportive Home Care
After speaking with Kris, a few clear reasons surfaced as to why she believes Horizon has continued to grow into the premiere agency it is today.
"In terms of organizational direction, Mary Haynor, CEO, has been a visionary and a driving force since she has been with us. Because of her, our Senior Leadership staff and all of Horizon's wonderful employees, we have continuously found ways to build upon and expand our care and services. Our Grief Resource Center, PCW, private duty, final hours, and family care are just a few of the incredible services we have added over the years, all of which have made tremendous impacts in the community.
We make sure we set the pace in health care, not catch up to it. That is what we have done time and time again because we surround ourselves with incredible people." - Kris
A Brief History: 25 years
Horizon was founded in 1990 under the name "Horizon Home Care & Staffing, Inc." It was a joint venture between four Milwaukee area hospitals (Columbia, Froedtert Lutheran Memorial, Community Memorial, and St. Mary’s hospitals) to merge their home care, hospice, private duty, meals-on-wheels, and non-medical care activities into one organization.
In 1992 Horizon was granted it's not-for-profit status and was renamed Horizon Home Care & Hospice Inc.
In 1995 Horizon earned accreditation from The Joint Commission, which it still holds today.
In 2010 Horizon opened an inpatient hospice unit in Mequon within Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital to serve its growing census of hospice patients.
